Dear family,
Well, it's been exactly a month since the wedding, and things seem to be back to normal, or as normal as they can be. I had no idea a wedding could be so much work. I think part of it was that my time to do things with Jamie was always on the weekends, when she could come down from school. Normally the weekends are my recovery from work and RS stuff, so I guess there was just no "down time". Another hard thing for me was asking people to do things I would normally do myself (like decorating, serving food, and picture taking), but couldn't because I was otherwise involved. Anyway, it all went well. They were married in the Bountiful Temple. It was a very chilly outside afterwards for pictures, but at least it wasn't snowing. We had a wedding luncheon there in Bountiful, and then the reception at our ward building. I had left detailed instructions for the decorating with some good friends, and we arrived at the ward to find everything looking beautiful! It was a very long day, but friends and family were all so kind even down to the cleaning up at the end. I still don't have the official photos back from our photographer, so I've included a few my children took at the temple.
Since then, there was Junior Prom for Nick. He's decided that these dances are much too expensive, and so he didn't ask anyone, but has a good friend who wanted to go, so she asked him. (I don't seem to be able to put the pictures where I want them, so you'll have to separate wedding from prom yourselves.)
Also, things have become a little louder at home. We went together with Nick to buy a used drum set for him and Alex for Christmas, and now our house has become the new "jammin'" spot for the neighborhood kids. I don't really mind, and I like having the kids here. Nick does ask us to jam as a family sometimes. I think he just likes to see some of us make fools of ourselves, but we have a good time.
This week will be the end of the swim season for Nick. He qualified (you have to be in the top 25 in the state) to swim in the state competition down at BYU in the 200 meter freestyle relay, and is an alternate in the 100 meter butterfly, which is an individual event. We're happy that he's been so successful, and has worked so hard. Next up: Water Polo (the reason that Nick and most of the swim team do the swimming -- it's required if you want to play polo).
It's been a very snowy winter (not 5 ft yet, though). Hopefully we'll be able to dig through today's snow accumulation to get to school/work tomorrow. And that's the news from our house.
